A Renewable Fuel Choice for Wisconsin.

Protect the RFS

The Wisconsin Ethanol Colation and the Wisconsin Bio Industry Allaince are working in partnership with national organziations such as RFA and Growth Energy to generate letters to the EPA to ask them not to change the RFS.The Renewable Fuel Standard is our nation’s only true energy policyThe Environmental Protection Agency is responsible for developing and implementing regulations that ensure a minimum level of renewable fuels are used for transportation in the United States. The agency works in collaboration with refiners, renewable fuel producers and many other involved parties.

The RFS (Renewable Fuel Standard) program was originally established under the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005. It required that 7.5 billion gallons of transportation fuel come from renewable sources by 2012. The Energy Independence and Security act of 2007 set a goal of 36 billion gallons of renewable fuel by 2022.

The agency based its policy on extensive scientific and economic research which showed renewable fuels will:

    • Add more than $1.7 trillion to our Gross Domestic Product between 2008 and 2022
    • Reduce greenhouse gasses
    • Reduce dependence on foreign oil

  • Farmers- Tell the EPA to go FORWARD, not BACKWARD!

Since the RFS was enacted net farm income has increased 51 percent. Ethanol and the development of next generation biofuels are critical to farmers and the development of rural America. Tell the EPA to keep moving FORWARD on an energy policy that is working for our economy, our security, and our rural communities.

  • Veterans-National Security- Tell the EPA to go FORWARD, not BACKWARD!

Wars have been fought; trillions of dollars have been spent to protect the flow of oil, and trillions more of our wealth has been transferred to foreign nations. But most important, the precious lives of American soldiers have been lost due to our addiction to foreign oil. After years of success from the RFS, we must not move backward. Tell the EPA to keep moving FORWARD on an energy policy that is working for our National Security.

  • Consumers- Tell the EPA to go FORWARD, not BACKWARD!

When the RFS was established, it always envisioned increasing biofuel blends to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, lower prices at the pump, improve the environment with lower emissions and grow the American economy with jobs that can’t be outsourced. Oil companies are doing everything they can to maintain their stranglehold on the nation’s fuel supply and halt a productive energy policy that works. Tell the EPA to keep moving FORWARD on an energy policy that is working for our economy, our security, and our future.

  • Investors- Tell the EPA to go FORWARD, not BACKWARD!

When the RFS was established, it always envisioned increasing biofuel blends to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, lower prices at the pump, improve the environment with lower emissions and grow the American economy with jobs that can’t be outsourced. Investors yourself committed and made the RFS a successful energy policy. Tell the EPA to keep moving FORWARD on an energy policy that is working for our economy, our security, and our future.

  • Environmentalists- Tell the EPA to go FORWARD, not BACKWARD!

The continued development of next generation biofuels – including cellulosic ethanol, is vital to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving our nation’s air quality. Tell the EPA to keep moving FORWARD on an energy policy that is working for our economy, our security, and our environmental future.

  • Ethanol Producers- Tell the EPA to go FORWARD, not BACKWARD!

American ethanol and the development of next generation biofuels along with a growing market for renewable fuel are critical to your business and your community. Tell the EPA to keep moving FORWARD on an energy policy that is working for our economy, our security, and our environmental future.
